How do I request a book or article through Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?
Answer
-
Log In to the ILL System:
- Go to the library's website and find the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) section.
- Log in with your library account credentials. If it's your first time, you will need to create an ILL account.
-
Submit a Request:
- Once logged in, select whether you're requesting a book or an article.
- Fill out the request form with as much detail as possible (title, author, publication year, ISBN/ISSN for books or journal name, volume, and page numbers for articles). This information can often be found through the library catalog or databases.
-
Submit the Form:
- After completing the form, submit your request. The library will locate the item from another institution if it’s not available in the LMU collections.
-
Wait for Notification:
- For articles, you will usually receive a digital copy via email.
- For books or other physical items, you’ll be notified by email when they arrive and are ready for pick-up at your specified library location.
-
Pick Up or Access Your Item:
- Follow the instructions in the email to pick up physical items or download digital copies.
If you need assistance, library staff are available to help guide you through the process!
